Jan 07: Another Layup on the Frame Transitions/Junctions

Another layup at the junctions of the frame.

Here the frame has been sanded and prepared.

Prepared frame with the carbon fiber pieces in the background.

Showing the layup schedule. Right to left.

Head tube, bottom bracket, and seat tube to top tube areas are all getting carbon.

Wrapped for compression/debulk and resin absorption.

Foam rubber pads covered with poly film for additional compression at flats or areas of negative curvature which are not compressed completely with the elastic band.

Cured and wrap removed from frame.

Layup considered very successful. No wrinkles or bubbles. Rolling the fabric out with a hard roller before applying to the frame has dramatically reduced the wrinkling and bunching of the fabric during cure. My wrapping technique is also improving; the method requires more thought and strategy than I was initially giving it.
