Jan 29: Fill in Gusset Void

The head tube gusset areas did not fill out as I'd planned. See the gaps shown below.




I designed small sinks into the gusset areas:

 Why? To allow for a thicker wall while retaining a smooth exterior curve. Just like the big boys.

Except these frames are constructed with a negative female tool to strictly control the exterior shape. The shape of their interior is consequential... a result of a thicker wall underneath the final shape of their design. So I had to plan backwards as I was wrapping over a male core and building out.


The sink needed to be filled in for a smooth exterior shape. Sanded.


The uni was cut, wetted, and laid on. But the woven tape was easier to wet as one piece, then scissor off sections at the appropriate length.




The result shows a better match in the curve.
