Test 5: Applying Less Fabric and Resin

This layup I reduced the amount of fabric layers I applied over the tube joint and also reduced the amount of resin I left on the fabric before applying the electrical tape.
Composite layup with electrical tape and peel ply

Results were more encouraging as the fabric wrinkled less.
Compaction results of electrical tape over composite

But the areas not covered with electrical tape did not compact even through the layup was vacuum bagged.
Lack of compaction of fibers in flat areas not wrapped

The surface finish of the layup is also less than optimal. The tape, excepting the perforations, is smooth. So the surface of the composite part would have to be sanded before the next layup.
