Unwrapping the second test. The shower curtain does an excellent job of passing resin into the bleeder poly fill material while still releasing from the layup. The remaining surface finish is also textured nicely for adhesion for subsequent layups.
Unfortunately, I was not as happy about the results of the test.
Under the compaction of the bag, the fabric wrinkles terribly. Fiber orientations are completely erratic. This part would be completely unsuitable as a structural component.
The vacuum bag pulls fabric from either side of the wrap causing a pucker at the parting plane of the films.
Too much resin? Am I not squeezing enough of the excess resin out manually before using the bag to compact the layup? Is a vacuum bag not appropriate for a tubular joint?
